Lucia joined the Kwon lab South Africa and HIV Pathogenesis Programme (HPP) in February 2025 as a research technician. After completing her Matric, she enrolled in a 4-year BSc degree in Medical Sciences and majored in Human Genetics in her final year, at the University of Limpopo, South Africa. She then pursued a Master of Science in Medicine, majoring in Human Genetics, at the University of Cape Town, where her project investigated the genetic architecture of Retinitis pigmentosa cases with unclear inheritance patterns. At the Kwon lab South Africa, Lucia is involved in  projects such as MOTIF, the High Frequency Study, and HPV. In her free time, she enjoys hanging out with friends, watching movies, and traveling.
